Amazon Alexa Now Available on Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatches

Fossil Gen 6 wearables now have access to the Amazon Alexa for Smartwatches app. The laptop will now also be preloaded with Amazon Alexa’s virtual assistant. Fossil Gen 6 users will be able to pair their smartwatches with phones running the latest Android version, in addition to the Go version and smartphones without Google Play. When connected, users will have the opportunity to access Amazon Alexa through the Alexa Tile and the Alexa app, which will now offer unique customization experiences for Fossil, Michael Kors and Skagen smartwatch users.

This was announced by The Fossil Group in a press release. As previously mentioned, Fossil Gen 6 users will have access to the Alexa Tile app when paired with a compatible smartphone, which can be quickly accessed by swiping the dial. In addition, the smartwatch pushbuttons can be configured to launch the Alexa app with a single touch. Users will now be able to use Alexa for smart home management, music control, grocery shopping, online shopping and more. It should be noted that Google Assistant will remain the default virtual assistant on Fossil Gen 6.

Fossil Gen 6 specifications

Fossil Gen 6 comes with a 1.28-inch color AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 416×416 pixels, which is housed in a 42 mm or 46 mm circular dial. Its performance comes from the equipped Snapdragon Wear 4100+ SoC, paired with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage.

Its upgraded cardiac monitoring sensor can track continuously and reliably. There is also a blood oxygen monitoring sensor (SpO2) along with an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, altimeter, off-body IR and ambient light sensor. Fossil Gen 6 supports connectivity options for Bluetooth v5 LE, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC SE. The battery is said to last for up to 24 hours during normal use. There is also an extended battery mode that is claimed to extend the battery life by several days.
