Apple may launch a cheaper Amazon Fire TV stick rival – Times of India

The Apple TV (4K) is a powerful and impressive streaming box. More so, if you are deeply invested in Apple ecosystem. But it is still quite a niche in India Amazon Fire TV stick dominates the market. One of the reasons why buyers might stay away from Apple TV (4K) is its price – from 18,990 Rs. But if a new report is to be believed, Apple is working on a cheaper alternative.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, which quotes the noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a cheaper alternative to Apple TV (4K) may be underway. Kuo said in a note that the device is expected to launch in the second half of 2022 because Apple wants to “improve the cost structure.”
He added that “Apple’s aggressive strategy to integrate hardware, content and services in the midst of the recession will help close the gap with its competitors.”
Earlier, Bloomberg had reported that Apple is also working on another variant of Apple TV. The report from Bloomberg suggested that the new Apple TV set-top box would also integrate a smart speaker and also have camera functions. The Bloomberg report stated that “such a device would combine an iPad with a HomePod speaker and also include a video chat camera.” If this product were launched, it would be quite similar Amazon Echo Show devices.
The cheaper Apple TV can give Apple a push in the streaming box / stick space. Apple has always claimed that the processor in Apple TV is the fastest available, which makes both streaming of content and games better. Not to forget, the Apple TV makes it pretty seamless to connect with other Apple devices as well.
