The CNG price in the national capital on Friday was increased by 80 paise per kg due to the government raising the input prices of natural gas to record levels. The price of CNG in Delhi’s National Capital Territory (NCT) has been raised to Rs 60.81 per kg from Rs 60.01, according to information published on the website of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) – the company that sells CNG and gas in pipelines nationally. capital.

This is the sixth increase in CNG prices in the last month. In total, prices have increased by about 4 Rs per kg. The increase comes on the back of an increase in gas prices globally.

IGL collects natural gas from domestic fields and buys imported LNG. LNG in the spot or current market reached record levels in recent months, and on Thursday the government raised the price of gas produced from local fields to a record high of $ 6.10 per million British thermal units from $ 2.9. This has put pressure on IGL costs, necessitating price increases, industry sources said.

Prices have increased by about 8.50 Rs per kg this year alone. However, the company has not changed the price of natural gas that is led to household kitchens for cooking.

The increase in CNG prices follows a Rs 6.40 per liter increase in petrol and diesel prices in less than two weeks and an increase of Rs 50 per cylinder in gas prices for cooking. In Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, CNG will cost Rs 63.38 per kg, while the price in Gurugram is Rs 69.17 per kg.

Prices vary from city to city depending on the existence of local taxes such as VAT. A record 137-day break in the price revision of petrol and diesel ended on 22 March. On the same day, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG bottle was raised to Rs 949.50 in the national capital. In some places, the price of gas has reached Rs 1,000.
