Former BJP member Bhawani Singh Rajawat was sent to a 14-day detention center on Friday for allegedly obstructing a forest official from performing his duties.

A former MLA from Ladpura in Kota, Mr. Rajawat had been arrested along with his supporter Mahaveer Suman on Thursday for insulting district forest official Ravi Meena for stopping maintenance work on the road leading to the Daad Devi temple.

In a video that was widely shared on social media, Rajawat was seen patting Mr Meena’s cheeks with his palm.

Mr. Rajawat was booked under sections 332, 353 of the IPC, both related to preventing an officer from performing his duty, and section 3 of the SC / ST Act.
