Google Chat brings back this GTalk icon – Times of India

Google Chat get a little change. Google’s chat platform restores idle status (the orange bubble) originally found in Google Talk. “In Google Chat on the Web and Chat in Gmail, you see an orange bell for users who were recently active in Chat, but who are not currently active. We hope this makes it easier to determine the best time to connect with your colleagues.” , said the company

In 2020, Google added the ability to allow users to set themselves as “Away” (empty circle) or “Do Not Disturb” (red). This gets the new orange bubble status “Idle” now. The “Idle” bubble appears if a user has been “inactive in Gmail or Google Chat for the past 5 minutes,” according to the company. Inactive status is currently only available on the web.
