Andre Russell’s fast-shooting 70 helped the Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. KKR chased a single goal of 138 runs in just 14.3 overs when PBKS bowlers struggled to break the partnership between Russell and Sam Billings, who also hit 24 runs.
The Punjab Kings made an easy hunt for a total of 137 runs as they continued to lose wickets to KKR’s bowling attack with Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee shining with the ball.

The Knight Riders chased 138 to win and saw problems with 51/4 with Ajinkya Rahane (12), Venkatesh Iyer (3), skipper Shreyas Iyer (26) and Nitesh Rana (0) were back in the dugout. Russell came to their rescue and struck sixes at will as he and Sam Billings guided them to victory.
Russell, who mostly traded in sixes, hit eight hits over the boundary line and two fours while remaining undefeated on 70 runs out of 31 deliveries. He and Sam Billings (24 not out) raised 90 runs for the unfinished fifth wicket partnership when KKR reached 141/4 on 14.3 overs.
Previously, KKR won the toss and Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first. Punjab King’s batsmen never fought before the KKR bowling attack but it was Kagiso Rabada, who shot 25 runs at the end of the rounds to make a respective total for his new team.
