Tim Southee became the first New Zealand bowler to take 250 T20 wickets© BCCI / IPL
Tim Southee was in red-hot form in the Kolkata Knight Riders match against the Punjab Kings on Friday when the New Zealand veteran picked up wickets from the opening hit Shikhar Dhawan and the great hit Shahrukh Khan to snatch the opposition. Umesh Yadav was the choice of bowler with 4 wickets. Southee took the decisive wicket of Dhawan, who could have played the role of anchor for Punjab.
The Kiwi star achieved a major personal milestone when he sent back Shahrukh Khan for a duck as he became the first New Zealand bowler to complete 250 wickets in T20 cricket.
Southee’s new ball partner in the New Zealand team, Trent Boult, has not yet crossed the 200 wickets line in T20 cricket, but those like Mitchell McClenaghan and others are in the hunt.
The Kolkata Knight Riders took to Twitter to celebrate the Blackcaps star’s performance.
“The Southee Express is unstoppable !!!! What a remarkable achievement,” was the caption they had used.
