Lock Upp’s Payal Rohatgi supports Will Smith after Oscars slap, slams Munawar Faruqui: ‘Comedians attack religion’

In today’s news flash, Lock Up contestants were informed that Will Smith beat Chris Rock on the Oscars stage. Payal Rohatgi extended his support to Will and criticized comedians who make fun of everything. The contestants ended up in a discussion about the incident but Payal and Munawar Faruqui ended up in a quarrel. (Also read: Wanda reveals that Chris apologized to her after being beaten by Will)

The news flash on Lock Up reads: “Will Smith hit Chris Rock in the face after the comedian joked about the actress’ wife Jada Pinkett Smith. ‘Sure, can not wait for GI Jane 2’, he said in an obvious reference to her shaved hairstyle – a result of the hair loss condition alopecia. ” Shivam wondered how people could make fun of someone’s wife.

Payal said, “Very good, people can not just make fun of anyone. She has a hair loss condition. Humor has a limit.” Ali Mercchant agreed with her and she continued: “You comedians are called hain na, you stand up comedians. You log humor aur sarcasm ke naam pe, bhagwan ko attacks karna, kisi ko bhi. (These stand-up comedians, they attack gods in the name of humor and sarcasm). ” Shivam said anyone would beat a person who made fun of his wife.

Munawar then came and said: “Oscars me hinsa allowed hai. (Violence is allowed in Oscars).” Payal then said, “It’s not violence at the Oscars if you hit someone. If someone made fun of your wife, you can hit them. Let’s not even talk about religion being attacked.” Munawar was visibly angry and said to her, “Payal does not do this.” She said he was the one who started it all by mentioning violence.

Munawar then said, “Payal apne pe mat lo (it’s not about you), do not do this. You do not know.” Payal then apologized to him.

Munawar has previously been attacked for hurting Hindu religious sentiments with his jokes. At least 12 of his shows were canceled earlier due to such accusations. In November last year, he announced in a statement on his Instagram account that he has decided to quit comedy.
