microsoft: Microsoft rebrands Your Phone app, adds new features and design; misses support for Apple iPhone

Since the launch of Windows 11 operating system last year, Microsoft has redesigned its built-in apps with new designs and features. Following Notepad, Paint, Photos and other apps, Microsoft has announced that they are renewing the Your Phone app as Phone link. For the unconscious, Microsoft launched the app Your Phone about three years ago. The app allows Android smartphone users to access photos and texts in smartphones from their computer. It even allows users to receive phone calls and use mobile apps.

What’s new in the Phone Link app

Microsoft introduces a new user interface for the app that provides advance notifications. The app also gets new navigation with tabs. The controls, color palette and overall look of the app are also updated to match Windows

11 OS. The design changes in the app include rounded corners, fresh illustrations and updated iconography. With the next update of Windows 11, users will also be able to set up Phone Link during installation with their new PC via QR code.

Apart from this, the company has also announced that it has partnered with Honor to include the Phone Link feature. The app will now be compatible with devices in Honor Magic V, Magic 4 series and Magic 3 series. More units will be added in the coming months. Recently, in collaboration with Samsung, Microsoft made it easier for users to launch apps that they used on their phones and continue using them on the computer.

Again, no support for iPhones

It was expected that Microsoft will also add support for Apple iPhone in the Phone Link app, however, the technology giant has not announced any plans for this.

Microsoft will also reportedly add new features for Smart Clipboard and Smart Actions with the upcoming Windows 11 update. According to a report from WindowsLatest, the technology giant will introduce support for the new features with Windows 11 version 22H2 or Sun Valley 2. The features are said to offer a new way to paste content between the apps.
