Harnaaz Sandhu is back in India and touring in different parts of the country for events and interviews. The former actress, who won the Miss Universe pageant in 2021, has received some nasty comments online for her changed appearance since she won the crown. Harnaaz says she thinks she’s beautiful no matter the size. (Also read: Harnaaz Sandhu does namaste when the paparazzo tells her to “keep making India proud” at the airport. Look at)
The beauty queen seems to have gained a little weight in her latest photos and appearances. Many have enchanted her on social media for it, but Harnaaz does not pay attention to such comments.
Harnaaz spoke with PTI and said she suffers from celiac disease, an immune reaction to eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. “I’m one of those individuals who was first bullied that ‘she’s too thin’ and now they bully me and say ‘she’s fat’. Nobody knows about my celiac disease. That I can not eat wheat flour and many other things.” She said.
She added that one’s body undergoes many changes when living in different cities. “When you go to a village, you see changes in your body. And I went to New York for the very first time … It’s a whole different world.”
“I’m someone who believes in body positivity and one of Miss Universe’s going through it for the very first time. On Miss Universe’s platform we talk about women’s empowerment, femininity and body positivity. And if I have to go through it … I know there is many people enchant me and that’s okay because it’s their mindset, their stigma, but there are many other individuals who are enchanted every day, whether their Miss Universe or not. I strengthen them by making them feel that if I feel beautiful, you are also beautiful, she said.
“To me, everyone is beautiful. It’s about how you represent yourself and what kind of ideology you have. Your features do not matter in an instant. If you think I’m the most beautiful girl, that’s why I won Miss Universe, I “sorry, you’re wrong. I may not be the most beautiful (girl) but I may be one of the brave and confident girls who believe that even though I am fat, even if I am thin, it is my body, I love myself. I love the changes and you should appreciate it because not everyone can go through the changes. So be happy if you go through changes. “If you face challenges in life, you should be grateful because that means something good is going to happen,” she added.
