Sketchbook (April 27)

An intimate instructional documentary series, Sketchbook takes us out on desks and into the lives of talented artists and animators. Each episode focuses on a single artist who teaches us how to draw a single iconic character from a Walt Disney Animation Studios movie. As we learn the steps to draw these characters, we also discover that the artists themselves each have a unique story to tell about how they got to Disney and their chosen characters.

Polar bear (April 22)

Directed by Alastair Fothergill and Jeff Wilson, and produced by Fothergill, Wilson, Jason Roberts, Keith Scholey and Roy Conli.

Witness (April 22)

Witness travels with the filmmakers behind Disneynature’s Polar bear when facing deep challenges 300 miles from the North Pole. The team, which created a revolutionary Arctic camp on site, navigated virtually impassable snow drifts and weak sea ice and collected unsurpassed images that revealed adaptive behaviors that surprised even this veteran team of filmmakers.

The Biggest Little Farm: The Return (April 22)

Explorer: The Last Tepui (April 22)

Earth Day Special Explorer: The Last Tepui, follows elite climber Alex Honnold (“Free Solo”) and a world-class climbing team led by National Geographic Explorer and climber Mark Synnott on a strenuous mission deep in the Amazon jungle as they attempt to climb a 1,000-foot cliff for the first time. Their goal is to deliver the legendary biologist and National Geographic Explorer Bruce Means to the top of a huge “island in the sky” known as a tepui. The team must first hike miles of treacherous jungle terrain to help Dr. Means complete his life’s work, looking for undiscovered animal species in the rock wall. Anupamaa – Namaste America – (April 25)

Anupamaa Launched in July 2020 for TV, is an ongoing series that has already aired over 500 episodes available on both Star Plus and Disney + Hotstar. The TV’s original cast has been retained for the prequel and will see Sudhanshu Pandey’s essay role as Vanraj, followed by Alpana Buch and Arvind Vaidya in central roles. Anupama-Namaste America will also introduce a brand new character from Anupama’s early years, Moti Baa played by the veteran of TV actress Sarita Joshi. This special character will play a crucial role in shaping Anupama’s early life as a budding dancer.

Taanakkaran (Tamil)

The film is about the difficulties that a lot of young police trainees face in a training camp. Vikram Prabhu plays an aggressive trainee who questions senior officers who are ruthless during training sessions. Directed by Tamizh, the film will also star in Lal and Anjali Nair.

Kanaa Kaanum Kaalangal (Tamil)

Kanaa Kaanum Kaalangal, the trend-setting Tamil show is now back with season 2 only on Disney + Hotstar. The story revolves around heartwarming friendships, teenage romances and the rivalries that arise between the old school students and the gang of new members.

Kaun Pravin Tambe

Sport biopic, Kaun Pravin Tambe, with Shreyas Talpade in the lead role, based on the cricketer’s life will be streamed on Disney + Hotstar on April 1. The film was directed by Jayprad Desai. Written by Kiran Yadnyopavit, Kaun Pravin Tambe will also have Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chaterjee and Anjali Patil in key roles.

Bheeshma Parvam (Malayalam)

Gangster drama Bheeshma Parvam is an action-thriller film produced and directed by Amal Neerad. With Mammootty in the lead role with Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Nadhiya Moidu, Shine Tom Chacko and Farhaan Faasil in supporting roles, this malayalam film is an adrenaline-pumping entertainer based on an influential family in Kerala’s Kochi.
